Such bad luck! Why does God deliberately let unfortunate follow us?

Published August 12, 2017 by gigiwellness28

There was a ship that sank on its voyage, a sailor survived and drifted to a small island of nowhere.  In order to survive, he cut some branches and palm leaves to build a shabby tree house.

He prayed every day, “God, please keep me safe on this island and help me to find a way to leave here.”

He prayed the same prayer every day… one day passed… two days passed… three days passed…  After a month, he was still trapped on this small island.

One evening while walking on the beach, he smelt of smoke in the air.  When he followed the smell, he found the shabby tree house that he had been staying for the past month was on fire!  By the time he reached to the spot, the treehouse was gone, but left with ashes!

He cried out angrily, “God, not only did you not answer my prayer, but now you have taken away the only shelter I have!”  He was furious and later that evening he felt asleep on the beach.

Instead of wake up by himself in the next morning, as he did for the past month, he was woken up by someone patting him…  “Wait… What!!  What is patting me?”  He was shocked when he opened his eyes, there were crewmen surrounding him, who paddled to the beach to rescue him.

The sailor was over the moon and asked his rescuers, “How did you know I am here?”  They replied, “We saw the signal you made last night!”  The sailor became so puzzled, “Signal?” then suddenly he remembered it was the “unfortunate” of his shabby tree house and how he shouted to God for hours.

There were times we were angry about the unfortunate events happened to/around us, we blamed God not looking after us, we may even cursed God.

However, please believe that God does not deliberately:

  • let unfortunate follow us;
  • let us not able to find a job;
  • let us fail in examination;
  • let us fall in trouble.

In fact, God intentionally:

  • send us some setbacks;
  • block our essence.

Because He has arranged us with countless blessing.  A lot of things may seem to be curse or unfortunate at the time, but in fact they are God’s (not too obvious) blessing.

Just like this story, our Father in Heaven was so humorous, He used some unpredictable events to lead to a pleasantly surprise at the end.

There were things in life that made us wonder, made us doubt, made us feel injustice, but when we look back now, we can find God was not deliberate, He has always been there.

Isaiah Chapter 55 verses 8-9 (ERV)

The Lord says, “My thoughts are not like yours.
Your ways are not like mine.
Just as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so my ways are higher than your ways,
and my thoughts are higher than your thoughts.

Parting with our Dwarf Bunnies

Published January 2, 2014 by gigiwellness28

It has brought back a lot of sad memories while reading Janet’s Notebook – Postcard from Singapore: one DEAD chicken in August 2012 (I started to write this post since then, but I had never finished it, because I found it really difficult to go back to those few days, but I think I should fulfil my promise to Janet and finish this post).  You may not be able to feel and/or understand my heartbreak, but here it goes:

Several years ago, our home had 2 addition members – a girl and a boy dwarf bunnies – they were 7 weeks old when I got them from my colleagues.  The kids loved them dearly and always cuddled them like little babies.  Within a very short period of time, the kids decided to name them Puffy and Fluffy.

Couple of years later, we moved to a stand alone house, where we were able to station their house in a semi-enclosed area and the kids had more space to play with them.  They had “walked” out from their area twice and hide underneath the patio once, but they always stayed there until we pick them up.  Then there were reports of fox appearances around our area, since the local council notified us they were going to leave some baits around, we did not pay too much notice.

I still remember clearly it was a sunny Saturday morning, I went to feed them after I finished my breakfast; when I walked out from the house, I felt something was not right, the fence was not locked and it was not fully closed.  The bunnies were not there, I called their names but they did not come out; I looked at all the usual places, I still couldn’t see them.  I was so worried and shock <– actually I can still feel how I felt while typing this post 😦

My husband and I did a carpet search and less than 1/2 hour later, my husband called out, “Found one!”  It was covered by some dirts at the edge of our garden bed.  Then another 1/2 hour passed, we were not able to find another one.  Since we had took them to the Vet for the past few years, I decided to call the Vet to check how should we handle the situation.  Finally we decided to deliver that body to the Vet, so she could examine it, because we wanted to know the cause of death.  I think the most difficult thing was to tell the kids.

On Sunday morning, the Vet confirmed most likely the bunny passed from heart attack because there were no visible injuries; and with our description of where did we find it, the Vet believed they were taken away from us by fox.  We’re so sure it was 1 fox, because it left one bunny behind and used dirt to cover its body – I have to say, it’s such a clever animal, because there were no other trace that the garden bed had been disturbed, the pathway did not even have any single trace of dirt left behind; if there were more than 1 fox, both bunnies would have take away physically.

The Vet was so nice, she did not only waive us the examination charges; but also allowed us to use the clinic as mid-point for the Pets Cremation Company to pick the body up and drop the urn back, so we could collect it from the clinic.  I asked the Vet to confirm if it was the girl bunny (Fluffy) or the boy bunny (Puffy) body; however, I must have deliberately forgotten about the finding, so I did not need to lie to the kids.

They were about 5 years old.  Since then, I did not allow any more pets except few existing Gold Fish, because I found the experience was way too stressful for me to swallow.

They were not just dwarf bunnies, they were not just pets, they were part of our family members.  And I still miss them dearly after all these years.

Did God really not answer our prayers?

Published December 31, 2012 by gigiwellness28

There was a boy, who was brought up by his widow mother (a devoted Christian), he learnt to pray ever since he could remember, his first reading material was the artwork with scripture from Sunday School, which he enjoyed the activities and had always been the best behaved kid in the class.

The boy grown up and started working.  Few years later, he met some new friends and hung out with the wrong group of people.  He started to think he knew much more than his Mom, he concerned more on his “eventful” life style and soon his “eventful” schedules had no spare slot to attend church services, read Bible, pray nor stay at home; he became rebellion towards his Mom and even reluctant to have contact with her.

About a couple of decades later, his Mom passed away in her sleep.  While clearing out her belongings, he found an envelope addressed to him.  It was a letter from his Mom, telling him how much she loved him and how much God loves him; how she had put him in her daily prayers, even when it seemed he was so far away from her and God; how she longed to see him return back to God; and how she believed God will one day answered her prayers.

His tears kept flooding down his face, his Mom’s words had melted his last shield, he had never thought she would still pray for him even after the rude remarks he had made to her, to her belief and to God; he couldn’t believe the extent of her faith in God.  Right on the spot, he made a tremendous decision, he confessed his sins to God and repented.  Then he got rid of all his “so-call” friends and started to attend church services.  Not only did he return back to God, he also decided to involve himself in ministry work.

The above is his testimony.

Dear Friends,

Did God answered his Mom’s prayers?

Yes, God did.

God heard her and He knew when was the perfect time to answer her prayers.

God’s schedules are differ from our schedules; we cannot say God does not answer our prayers just because we haven’t seen the results yet.  Remember, we are short sighted; God is long sighted.

No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love Him.  ~ I Corinthians Chapter 2 verse 9 (New Living Translation)

Have a glorious day!!   :-)

Why does God allow pain and suffering?

Published August 10, 2012 by gigiwellness28

A man went to a barbershop to have his hair cut and his beard trimmed.  As the barber began to work, they began to have a good conversations.  They talked about so many things and various subjects.

When they eventually touched on the subject of God the barber said, “I don’t believe that God exists.”

“Why do you say that?” asked the customer.

“Well, you just have to go out in the street to realise that God doesn’t exist.  Tell me, if God exists, would there be so many sick people?  Would there be abandoned children?  If God existed, there would be neither suffering nor pain?  I can’t imagine a loving God who would allow all of these things.”

The customer thought for a moment, but didn’t respond because he didn’t want to start an argument.

The barber finished his job and the customer left the shop.

Just after he left the barbershop, he saw a man in the street with long, stringy, dirty hair and an untrimmed beard.  He looked dirty and unkempt.

The customer turned back and entered the barbershop again and he said to the barber, “You know what?  Barbers do not exist.”

“How can you say that?” asked the surprised barber.  “I am here, and I am a barber.  And I have just worked on you!”

“No!” the customer exclaimed.  “Barbers don’t exist because if they did, there would be no people with dirty long hair and untrimmed beards, like that man outside.”

“Ah, but barbers DO exist!  That’s what happens when people do not come to me.”

“Exactly!” affirmed the customer.  “That’s the point!  God, too, DOES exist!  That’s what happens when people do not go to Him and don’t look to Him for help.  That’s why there’s so much pain and suffering in the world.”

P.S.  This doesn’t mean people who go to God and/or look to Him for help do not have pain or suffering, the difference is those who go to God and look to Him for help have the inner peace from God to face the pain and suffering.

If you never by Author Unknown

God said…

If you never felt pain,

then how would you know that I am a Healer?

If you never had to pray,

how would you know that I am a Deliverer?

If you never had a trial,

how could you call yourself an overcomer?

If you never felt sadness,

how would you know that I am a Comforter?

If you never made a mistake,

how would you know that I am a Forgiver?

If you knew all,

how would you know that I will answer your questions?

If you never were in trouble,

how would you know that I will come to your rescue?

If you never were broken,

then how would you know that I can make you whole?

If you never had a problem,

how would you know that I can solve them?

If you never had any suffering,

then how would you know what I went through?

If you never went through the fire,

then how would you become pure?

If I gave you all things,

how would you appreciate them?

If I never corrected you,

how would you know that I love you?

If you had all power,

then how would you learn to depend on me?

If your life was perfect,

then what would you need me for?

I believe this phone call was made in 2007, but I never knew about it until few days ago, when I accidentally stumbled across.

But was it really accidentally or was it meant to be shared among, again?  To refresh us on what had been said during this phone call?
